Large Fire At Carlisle Recycling Centre Brought Under Control
Fire crews have finally brought a large blaze at a Carlisle recycling centre under control.
The fire at North West Recycling Limited broke out shortly before 11am on Monday 3 December. North West Recycling is located on the Kingmoor Park Industrial Estate, Carlisle.
A number of fire crews attended the scene, which included appliances from Carlisle, Brampton and Gretna. Approximately one hundred square meters of mixed recycling was thought to be alight.
Hose jets, a thermal imaging camera and heavy plant machinery were used to check for any remaining hotspots.
The blaze was contained in one corner of the building. The fire service estimates that only about 20 per cent of the building was affected by the fire.
